The Innovative NIU N290 by Fran Silvestre Arquitectos: Pushing Boundaries in Architecture and Design
Spanish Architect Fran Silvestre Leads the Way in Cutting-Edge Architecture. The studio’s latest project ‘NIU N290’ results from Silvestre's passion for innovation in construction systems.
Designing for the future
The goal of the NIU Project was to increase precision in the materialization of architecture and improve the quality of human environments by making them more sustainable and healthy. Each module is unique, with its design adapted to its specific landscape. The building is configured around a central courtyard and constructed with a piece of extruded aluminum, giving it a metallic sheen that blends in with its surroundings.
The interior spaces of the house extend to the exterior, creating a seamless connection between the indoors and outdoors. The building envelope is materialized by a piece of extruded aluminum, which changes appearance throughout the day and evokes a sense of simultaneous similarity and uniqueness.
Fran Silvestre: A Visionary Architect
The architectural world is constantly evolving, and Spanish architect Fran Silvestre is leading the way. Silvestre's Valencia-based studio, Fran Silvestre Arquitectos, has been creating beautiful and functional structures since 2005. The studio’s latest endeavor NIU N290 is just one example of the studio's breathtaking work.
Fran Silvestre's work is heavily influenced by architects such as Alvaro Siza and Andreu Alfaro, and the results are buildings of high purity and constant innovation. The studio has received numerous international awards and has been recognized by some of the most prestigious architecture and design magazines in the world, including Architectural Record, Pencil, and GG.
Aside from being a renowned architect designing buildings, Silvestre is also a professor. He received his Doctorate degree in 2016 and holds the Victor L. Regnier Distinguished Visiting Professorship at Kansas State University. He is dedicated to teaching and has run a master's degree in architecture and design in collaboration with architects such as Eduardo Souto de Moura, and Carlos Ferrater.
Crafting Timeless Masterpieces
Fran Silvestre's innovative designs extend beyond his architectural projects and into the realm of outdoor furniture. The BLAU Collection, designed for Gandia Blasco, showcases Silvestre's ability to link traditional outdoor furniture with Mediterranean architecture.
This collection is constructed using a system based on the assembly of extruded aluminum sections, with a single type of knot used to fix all the joints of the different pieces. From chairs to an artificial tree, the BLAU Collection is a family of objects that not only serve a functional purpose but also have beauty and value as objects of contemplation. This innovative take on tradition is a must-have for design lovers and is now available through our online store, thatcooliving.com.
